Foot measurement for individual shoes AurelKaorto®

There are several important points to keep in mind when taking measurements:

  • Measurements should be taken in a standing position or, in the case of non-walking persons, sitting with a right angle below the knee.
  • Measure both feet separately.
  • A second person is helpful to take the measurements.
  • In the case of shoes for already existing insoles, measurements should be made with the insole placed under the foot.
  • In the case orthotic shoes measurements are taken with an orthosis put on the foot.
  • When measuring the girths of the feet with orthoses take into account the straps, fasteners, ankle joints, etc. used in the orthosis, and affecting the stiffness of the footwear.
  • Record absolute measurements, i.e. without enlarging them at your discretion - the necessary allowances will be taken into account when designing shoes
  • Take pictures of the feet from the side, front and back and attach them to the order.
  • Wykonać zdjęcia stóp z boku, przodu oraz tyłu i załączyć je do zamówienia.

Tailor-made footwear is always made on the basis of individual foot parameters. Therefore, in addition to specifying the corrections to be applied to the footwear, the order should contain the following data:

A
Forefoot circumference
b
Metatarsal circumference
c
Circumference through the heel
d
Circumference on the ankle

Measurement on the contour
foot/orthotics

f
Width of the forefoot
e
Length of foot/orthosis
g
Heel width

To measure the size of the foot follow the instructions below.

1

Standing on a sheet of paper, outline the contour of the circumference of the foot. To draw the foot correctly, you need to hold the pencil at a right angle to the foot.

2

Measure in cm the distance between the farthest points in the figure (a and b)

In individual cases, it is advisable to make additional measurements, for example:

h
The height of the fingers
i
Height of the big toe joint
j
Raising height

Corrections “shortcut” in Aurelka shoes

In the case of individual execution of the abbreviation, it is necessary to apply the method of its execution on the diagram with the indication of the dimensions.

In AurelKaorto® brand footwear, the abbreviation can be made in the sole or in the insole (inside the shoe).

The method of performing the correction is conditioned by the height of the shortcut.
Possible variants of execution of modifications:

  • abbreviation made inside the shoe - if its height does not exceed 1 cm in the hind foot and 0.5 cm in the forefoot
  • short in the sole (any height depending on the individual needs of the customer)
  • part of the shortcut made inside the shoe in cases where the correction is less visible), the remaining part of the shortcut is made in the sole.

The abbreviation inside should not exceed 1 cm in the hindfoot and 0.5 cm in the forefoot. The outer part of the shortcut can have a different height depending on the individual needs of the customer.

The abbreviation is always performed with a chamfer starting at the height of the fifth head of the metatarsal bone (2/3 of the length of the subsole).

It is also possible to carve in the heel part, which makes it easier to roll the foot at higher abutments.

At the request of the customer, the shortcut can be made without reaming, and with the same height for the rear foot as in the forefoot.

Measurements for standard footwear for orthotics

The table contains the minimum measurements of the orthosis and is only used to assess whether the orthosis will fit into the shoe. The measurement of the width of the heel and forefoot is final. The adjustment margin is only present in the measurement of circuits. Thanks to the adjustment of the laces and the softness of the skin, the circumference of the orthosis can be slightly larger than the stated minimum.

Serial shoes may not be perfectly matched to the orthosis. The straps in the shoes must be adjusted and shortened by yourself. Any unusual orthoses require individual implementation.

So that the shoes are not too tight, you need to add about 1 cm to the measurements of the length of the insole.
